Czestochowa tour
Czestochowa tour from Warsaw
The Chapel of Our Lady of Częstochowa, also called the Chapel of the Miraculous Picture, is the oldest part of the complex and the place where the miraculous image of the Black Madonna is kept. According to the history of the painting in Poland, in 1382 Prince Władysław wanted to transport the wonderful icon to Opole but on the way the cart had stopped in Częstochowa, and the horses refused to move. Recognizing this as a sign of God, the prince left the icon in the local monastery. Marks on Madonna's face come from the time when the painting was at the castle in Bełz. During the Tatars attack on the castle, one of them shot through the image with an arrow and two features are still visible on her face.
In 1994, Monastery Complex of Pauline Monks at Jasna Gora was considered a historical monument. Visiting the monastery, it is worth stopping at the Knight's Hall, see the Treasury, St. Roch’s Bastille, the Armory, the Tower and Museum of the 600th anniversary in Jasna Góra.
Also, Czestochowa is a perfect starting point for Jurassic trails full of caves, fortresses, dazzling nature and countless attractions.
